Summary
Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among children and adolescents worldwide. While many childhood cancers are highly curable, outcomes vary dramatically depending on where a child lives, with survival rates ranging from 80% in high-income countries to as low as 30% in lower-income regions. These disparities highlight the urgent need for more targeted research into the genetic factors influencing cancer development, early detection, and timely, effective treatment.
Despite this urgency, paediatric cancers receive only a fraction of global cancer research funding, approximately 4%, leaving significant gaps in our collective understanding. Comprehensive, high-quality data is vital to closing these gaps, driving evidence-based care improvements, and informing both national and global health policy.
In response, COSMIC v102 has focused its latest curation on paediatric cancer, assembling a wealth of genomic data from recent targeted screens. This webinar will:
