In January 2021, COSMIC entered into a commercial distribution partnership with Qiagen, enabling COSMIC to ensure global accessibility to our valuable knowledgebase. Under this agreement, all commercial licensing enquiries are handled by the Qiagen Digital Insights (QDI) sales team. 

COSMIC is proud to support a diverse range of contributions to the cancer community, and this commitment is at the heart of our sustainable growth model.

Academic use

To support global cancer research COSMIC data is free for the academic community, enabling those educating and conducting research in non-profit settings to access high-quality somatic mutation data that drives discoveries.

Academic use refers to the use of the COSMIC data, either from the website or from the downloads, in research and development within a not-for-profit organisation only.

Commercial use

Through licensing fees, commercial customers play a vital role in supporting COSMIC’s research and development, enabling us to expand and enhance our world-leading cancer mutation Knowledgebase.

Commercial use refers to the use of the COSMIC data either from the downloads or from the website:

• In a commercial product or service
• In patient service or in clinical reporting
• In research and development (commercial /for-profit setting)
• In product specs/ information for panels and reference material, including public facing websites
